About the artist

Cellist Ari Evan was born and raised in New York.  He is currently finishing his second and final year of Carnegie Hall’s “Ensemble Connect” fellowship. Prior to this, Ari completed his master’s degree at The Juilliard School with Timothy Eddy. In the Fall, Ari will begin a 3-year Artist in Residence program at the Queen Elisabeth Chapelle in Belgium, under the tutelage of Gary Hoffman.

A versatile chamber musician, Ari has performed with Shmuel Ashkenasi, Colin Carr, Miriam Fried, Gary Hoffman, Hsin-Yun Huang, Ani Kavafian, Bob McDonald, and Itzhak Perlman, as well as members of the Cleveland Quartet, Artemis Quartet, and Berliner Philharmoniker. His festival appearances include Ravinia, Krzyzova-Music, Prussia Cove, and the Perlman Music Program, among others.

Passionate about community engagement and teaching, Ari founded the Forest Hills Chamber Music Series in an effort to promote Jewish music and bring classical to music the community he grew up in. He also coaches pre-college chamber music at Juilliard and teaches cello privately and at PS. 052 through Ensemble Connect.
